I was a little bit disappointed this month to only receive 4 items in my bag, when it usually comes with 5 (I think?- I've only gotten two so far). I thought that the theme this month, Destination Beauty, was super cute, and I was excited about some of the products that I received.
Pixi Beauty Flawless Beauty Primer
This is probably the only item in the bag that I won't use very often. I already have a great primer, and I just switched over to tinted sunscreen as my makeup of choice, so this didn't seem like something I would use. I'll probably offer it up to a friend or family member if they want to use it.
Marvelous Moxie™ Lipstick in Get Ready
I absolutely love this lipstick! It is the perfect color, not too dark and not too light. It goes on smooth, and I think the super tiny tube is my favorite thing ever. This is a great go-to lip color, and it will be getting a lot of use this spring!
Nicole by OPI Roughles
Ahh, nail polish. My one true love. I haven't had a chance to try this color out yet, but I am so excited to see how it turns out. The formula dries bumpy, almost like the texture of coral, or a rock, which could be cool or could be weird. I'm hoping for cool, because it seems really summery, and I would love to wear it to the beach.
Be a Bombshell Bora Bora Eyeshadow Quad
This was a fun little product to get in my bag. I think that I can use 3 out of 4 of the colors on a pretty consistent basis, but the bright blue I'm not sure how I'll use yet. I love being adventurous with different products, I just need to figure out a look that won't make me look like a drag queen.
Overall, I feel like this was a good bag, I just wish that there was one more product in there, because then I may have had more things that I would use on a consistent basis.
This month's Birchbox theme was "Spring Forward" and I felt like my box did feel very spring-y. Birchbox is still my favorite subscription box, and I don't know that anything will ever replace it in my heart :)
Beauty Protector- Protect and Detangle
I was excited to try this detangler, because I had seen everyone raving about it in the Birchbox shop for months! I don't generally need to use detangler sprays, but I figured I would give it a try. It has the best smell ever (kind of floral/vanilla) and it really works wonders on my hair! This is a must after swimming for me this summer!
Coola- Tinted Matte SPF 20 for Face
This was the item that I was the most excited to try! I will admit that I am the worst at remembering to put on sunscreen every day (I know, I know), so this all in one product is just the ticket for me. Somehow Birchbox is spying on me, because they always get the color perfect for me when they send me makeup samples. I will probably order this from their store.
Gilchrist & Soames London Collection Body Lotion
Honestly, this was kind of a random find for me. It reminds me of what you would get in a hotel, which is nice, but not something that I would splurge on. I have gotten many more lotions from Birchbox that I love way more than this product.
Harvey Prince Cherie Blossom
I usually hate getting perfume samples, they seem like a waste to me, because I usually stick with the same two perfumes every day. I was pleasantly surprised that I loved this scent, and my husband even noticed it and liked it (rare for him). I'm not sure yet if I will purchase the full sized product, but I'm enjoying the sample while it lasts!
Tea Forte- Minteas
These mints were my favorite part of this month's Birchbox. I love the flavor, because it is so different from anything else that you can find. I love me some tea, so this was a fun way to treat myself, without the hassle of making tea (not that it is too much of a hassle). I am on the hunt for these other places than Birchbox, so that I don't have to wait for them when I run out!
Ghirardelli- Cherry Tango Square
Call me crazy, but I'm not a huge fan of cherries. The only kind of cherries I like are Ranier cherries, and only if I buy them from a stand on the side of the road :)
So imagine my surprise when I love this chocolate! Cherries, dark chocolate, and all (oh yeah- I don't like dark chocolate either- get out your pitchforks). This was definitely a fun treat!
Overall, I loved this month's box. I was happy with the fun surprises I found inside, and I think I will get a lot of use out of these products!
I loved this month's Julep Maven box! I think that my favorite thing about Julep Maven is that you get to pick what you want in your box. I wasn't a huge fan of some of the nail polish colors this month, so I decided to go with the beauty box instead. It's cool because they also let you get sale prices for other products at the end of the selection process, so I was able to get a few other items that I had been eyeing.
Buff Lip Scrub Pen
I really liked this lip scrub pen! I love that you don't have to rub it on with your fingers, it just goes on from the applicator. This is perfect for my lips right now, because our weather has been changing so much.
Luxe Lip Conditioning Treatment
I LOVE the applicator on this product! It is metal, and it feels so good when you put it on your lips. Very cooling and soothing. I don't really like the smell of it, and it's kind of sticky, but I do think that it moisturizes really well!
Enchanted Lip Gloss
This lipgloss is the perfect watermelon color for summer. It is definitely very sticky, which Eric isn't a fan of, but for a day at work, it is perfect. It is sheer enough that the color doesn't take over my face, but it has enough color that it shows up. I love it!
Harriet Nail Color
I love this nail color! It is such a pretty coral color, but it almost has more orange in it than a normal coral. It does take a couple of coats to make it more opaque, but I love that it is such a fun summer color. I am excited to use it more this year!
Freedom Polymer Top Coat
I was very skeptical to try any other top coat than my beloved seche vite, but I have to say that I am really impressed with this top coat. It stayed shiny for days, and it chipped after only a week, which is pretty normal for me. I'll definitely be using this again!
Oxygen Nail Treatment
I was reading about this product, and it somehow convinced me to try and go for a few weeks without color on my nails (for those of you who know me well, this is killing me). I do think that it will be helpful to make my nails stronger and healthier, so I will deal.
Cleanup Tool
I love this little tool! It's something that I have needed, because if I am going quickly when painting my nails I tend to get polish on the sides of my nail beds. This helps clean up my mistakes, as well as any stuff under my nails. And it's so tiny!
Stick Candies
This was a fun little surprise in my box this month. I got a cotton candy flavored stick candy, and a cinnamon flavor stick candy. I'm definitely saving these for a rainy day, because I am trying to eat healthier these days. This can be a fun treat later!
Bonus: My Other Haul This Month
I also went a bit crazy in the sale section this month and got 7 new nail colors and a cute little clutch. I put the clutch inside of my purse to organize all of my makeup that was loose in my purse. The colors are all so fun, and I can't wait to experiment with them!
I think that Julep is turning into one of my favorite subscription boxes (though let's be honest, I think my favorite is usually just what I have in my hands at the moment). Excited for next month's box!
This month, Birchbox teamed up with Us Weekly to create a red-carpet themed box. I was really excited to see what I would get with this theme, but to be honest I wasn't too impressed with my box this month.
Ruby Wing Color Changing Nail Polish
I was excited to get nail polish this month, but I was really hoping to get the other color that they were sending out. I find this color to be kind of kid-ish, and I'm not a huge fan of color changing polish. I will always be excited to get nail polish, but I don't think this one will be in my rotation very often.
Camille Beckman Glycerine Hand Therapy™
This lotion smells really good! I'm honestly a bit over getting hand lotions. I feel like I get a lotion every month, so it's not especially fun or memorable. They are always nice to have around, but I've never wanted or needed to buy any new lotions because I keep getting them in boxes :)
Smashbox Cosmetics Full Exposure Mascara
Definitely not a fan of this mascara. I was lucky enough to get a sample of Benefit's Bad Gal Lash, which is my absolute favorite mascara ever. I don't know that I will find anything that will live up to it, so this didn't really stand a chance, unfortunately. I might have liked it before I got the Benefit one.
Agave Healing Oil Treatment
I probably won't use this, because my hair tends to get oily without adding additional oil to it. This is definitely going to my friend who uses hair oils.
Smashbox Cosmetics Full Exposure Palette
To be honest, I wasn't really very excited about this sample at first. I'm not a huge fan of single-use samples, so I was skeptical on whether I would like this. Once I started to use it, though, I did like the colors that it came with, and that I was able to try 10 different colors in one sample.
Overall, this box was just meh. I was not super impressed with this month's Birchbox, but I'm sure that I will like next month's better!
