This Month's Whimseybox project is Needle Felting. I had always seen Needle Felting before, and always wanted to try it, but I wasn't confident that I would be able to do it. I am really excited to try this project next week! Below is what I received in this month's box:
I was excited to try this Limited Edition Birchbox out this month. I had seen other Limited Edition boxes come into my inbox before, but I never had actually bought one. The Birchbox Finds box came into my inbox, and I figured that since it was only $18, what could I lose? All Birchbox Finds are mass produced products that you can normally find at drugstores, so these products are easy to get.
COVERGIRL Bombshell Shine Shadow by LashBlast™
I honestly probably won't use this product very often. I'm not a huge fan of frosted looking eyeshadow (it kind of reminds me of middle school). Maybe I'll find a way to use it that works, but I can't think of it now.
Bioré Self Heating One Minute Mask I am so excited to try these masks! I remember when I was younger and I used their pore strips. They were really fun and really effective. I am excited to see what it means by self-heating, because apparently it reacts with the water and it heats up. I'm going to try these later today, so we will see how this goes :)
NIVEA Kiss of Care & Color
This was by far, my absolute most favorite thing that I got in this box. I am kind of obsessed with Chapstick, and this gives me the moisture of Chapstick, but the color of a lipgloss. It goes on really light, and doesn't feel sticky. I really love the color, it is very light and doesn't overpower my face.
Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure™
I'm always excited to get nail polish- no matter what brand or what color. I love this color pink, and I am excited to try it out. I'm usually not a huge fan of Sally Hanson brushes, because they are really large. I find it really hard to paint my nails with a large brush because it is difficult to keep the color in the nail bed.
John Frieda Frizz Ease® Nourishing Oil Elixir I'm always very concerned to try any hair oils because my hair gets oily on its own after one day. I tried it yesterday and surprisingly it worked really well. My hair was really shiny, and it didn't look more oily than normal by the next morning. I think that it helped that I only used less than a pea sized amount.
Rimmel London Stay Glossy 3D Lipgloss I'm not sure what my issue is with frosted makeup, but I'm not a fan of frosted lipgloss either. This doesn't seem like my style at all, and honestly I probably won't even try it.
COVERGIRL Bombshell Volume by LashBlast™ Mascara
I was excited to try this mascara, because I had kind of created my own system like this with two different mascaras. I liked how this mascara looked when I first put it on, but it seemed sticky throughout the day and it looked clumpy at the end of the day.
Overall, there were some hits and some misses in this box, but it was definitely worth the $18 that I paid for it!
This month, Birchbox teamed up with Us Weekly to create a red-carpet themed box. I was really excited to see what I would get with this theme, but to be honest I wasn't too impressed with my box this month.
Ruby Wing Color Changing Nail Polish
I was excited to get nail polish this month, but I was really hoping to get the other color that they were sending out. I find this color to be kind of kid-ish, and I'm not a huge fan of color changing polish. I will always be excited to get nail polish, but I don't think this one will be in my rotation very often.
Camille Beckman Glycerine Hand Therapy™
This lotion smells really good! I'm honestly a bit over getting hand lotions. I feel like I get a lotion every month, so it's not especially fun or memorable. They are always nice to have around, but I've never wanted or needed to buy any new lotions because I keep getting them in boxes :)
Smashbox Cosmetics Full Exposure Mascara
Definitely not a fan of this mascara. I was lucky enough to get a sample of Benefit's Bad Gal Lash, which is my absolute favorite mascara ever. I don't know that I will find anything that will live up to it, so this didn't really stand a chance, unfortunately. I might have liked it before I got the Benefit one.
Agave Healing Oil Treatment
I probably won't use this, because my hair tends to get oily without adding additional oil to it. This is definitely going to my friend who uses hair oils.
Smashbox Cosmetics Full Exposure Palette
To be honest, I wasn't really very excited about this sample at first. I'm not a huge fan of single-use samples, so I was skeptical on whether I would like this. Once I started to use it, though, I did like the colors that it came with, and that I was able to try 10 different colors in one sample.
Overall, this box was just meh. I was not super impressed with this month's Birchbox, but I'm sure that I will like next month's better!
This was my first Julep Maven box. With Julep, I get a monthly box of nail products and beauty products tailored to my style. As you may know, I am obsessed with nail polish, and newly obsessed with subscription boxes, so this seemed like a perfect fit!
I am excited because with this subscription I get all of the newest shades of nail polish, and I'm pretty sure that I get to pick what colors come to me each month.
This was an extra this month, but these are nail file block things (not sure the technical term- obviously). These are always handy to have around, and it was a fun little surprise to get in my box this month.
Bunny
This is a shimmery white nail polish. I am excited to get this, because all of the whites that I have are cream polishes (no sparkle), so this is different from anything that I already have!
Libby
This is a beautiful deep teal color that is very popular right now. I already have one that is similar, but is definitely a much lighter shade. This one is a very rich color, and I can't wait to try it out!
Elle
This is a very shimmery deep purple nail polish. Normally, I hate shimmery nail polishes, but this one is so amazing! I have recently fallen in love with purple nail polishes, so I was very excited to get this color!
Overall, I am so excited about this new box that I have started to get! I think that getting new nail polish every month is really fun, and it's kind of nice having someone else pick the colors for me, since I always gravitate toward the same type of colors. I can't wait to see what I will get in months to come!
This is my first month of Ipsy, which is a makeup subscription bag. Each month, subscribers will receive a beautiful Glam Bag with deluxe samples and full-sized beauty products. I am interested to see how it compares to Birchbox.
This month's theme was "The Look of Love" and everything seemed like it could be used for Valentine's Day.
Zoya Nail Polish in Odette
I was so excited to get a Zoya nail polish in my first bag! I absolutely love Zoya, and any time that I get nail polish I am a happy camper. This color is really pretty, and I am so excited to wear this (especially in the spring and summer).
Plump Pout Mini by POP Beauty in Fuchia Freesia
I was very interested in this product, but unfortunately I probably won't use it much. It is a plumping product, and I feel like my lips already take over my face, so it's not really for me. Plus, the color is really bright!
Tini Beauty Eyetini Coridal Cream Shadow + Base in One in Spiced Rum
This is an interesting concept for a product. I feel like it goes on way too thick and isn't a color that I would want to use as an eyeshadow. It may work with an eyeliner brush, though.
J.Cat Beauty Eyelashes + Eyelash Glue
This was really exciting to get. I absolutely love lashes, and I can't wait for a special occasion to come around so that I can wear them without feeling like a drag queen. We are going out to dinner on Saturday, so that may just be my excuse!
Pacifica Hawaiian Ruby Guava Body Butter
This lotion is awesome! It goes on thick, but soaks in really quickly and doesn't leave a greasy residue. The smell is very tropical- a bit strong of a smell for my taste, but maybe I'm just weird about that.
Makeup Bag
Each Glam Bag comes with a small makeup bag that you can use for other things. This month, it was pink with a leopard-type print on the inside. Very cute, and would be useful in a purse to organize your stuff.
Overall, I think that Ipsy is a really fun subscription bag. I think that it gives different types of products from Birchbox, and I hope that they will compliment each other nicely going forward!
