I was lucky enough to help plan my co-worker's baby shower this last weekend, and I was trying to figure out a new way to decorate a space. I had already done tissue poms for my friend's bridal shower, and I wanted something a little more boyish since my co-worker is having a boy. I used this tutorial to create my tissue garland, and I think that this will definitely be an easy decoration to make going forward. I think it turned out great :) Fold the tissue paper in half length-wise. Fold it in half length-wise again. Then, fold it in half the other way (so that the fold is at the top). Start to cut strips length-wise in the paper, and continue all the way across. Make sure to stop about 4 inches from the top fold of the paper. Make sure that all of the strips are similar in size. One thing that I wish that I would have done would be to iron the tissue paper before I started. That way, I wouldn't have all of those folds in the paper. You then unfold the paper so that the strips are on either side. Crinkle it up in the middle so that it stays together. Twist the middle. Twist it so that it makes a loop. Tie the loop with twine, then string it up on a piece of twine or string. Let me know if you decide to try this tutorial! I found it to be very easy, and I think that it added an extra element of color to the party. And it may even be used in the baby's nursery! Love- JenThis month's Birchbox theme was "Spring Forward" and I felt like my box did feel very spring-y. Birchbox is still my favorite subscription box, and I don't know that anything will ever replace it in my heart :) Beauty Protector- Protect and Detangle I was excited to try this detangler, because I had seen everyone raving about it in the Birchbox shop for months! I don't generally need to use detangler sprays, but I figured I would give it a try. It has the best smell ever (kind of floral/vanilla) and it really works wonders on my hair! This is a must after swimming for me this summer! Coola- Tinted Matte SPF 20 for Face This was the item that I was the most excited to try! I will admit that I am the worst at remembering to put on sunscreen every day (I know, I know), so this all in one product is just the ticket for me. Somehow Birchbox is spying on me, because they always get the color perfect for me when they send me makeup samples. I will probably order this from their store. Gilchrist & Soames London Collection Body Lotion Honestly, this was kind of a random find for me. It reminds me of what you would get in a hotel, which is nice, but not something that I would splurge on. I have gotten many more lotions from Birchbox that I love way more than this product. Harvey Prince Cherie Blossom I usually hate getting perfume samples, they seem like a waste to me, because I usually stick with the same two perfumes every day. I was pleasantly surprised that I loved this scent, and my husband even noticed it and liked it (rare for him). I'm not sure yet if I will purchase the full sized product, but I'm enjoying the sample while it lasts! Tea Forte- Minteas These mints were my favorite part of this month's Birchbox. I love the flavor, because it is so different from anything else that you can find. I love me some tea, so this was a fun way to treat myself, without the hassle of making tea (not that it is too much of a hassle). I am on the hunt for these other places than Birchbox, so that I don't have to wait for them when I run out! Ghirardelli- Cherry Tango Square Call me crazy, but I'm not a huge fan of cherries. The only kind of cherries I like are Ranier cherries, and only if I buy them from a stand on the side of the road :) So imagine my surprise when I love this chocolate! Cherries, dark chocolate, and all (oh yeah- I don't like dark chocolate either- get out your pitchforks). This was definitely a fun treat! Overall, I loved this month's box. I was happy with the fun surprises I found inside, and I think I will get a lot of use out of these products! Love- JenI was so excited to try this recipe from Brown Eyed Baker! I had never had a Car Bomb before, but I thought that the combo of everything sounded amazing. I'm really excited with how they turned out, and I'm happy to say that everyone seemed to love them! Have you ever tried a fun cupcake recipe? If so, share in the comments below! I'd love to try anything! Love- Jen |
